Yamaha Waverunners were first produced in 1986.The very first Yamaha Waverunner was the Marine Jet 500T Yamaha Waverunner 500. It was the first sit down waverunner that the world had ever seen. It took the personal water craft market by storm and led the way for many other manufactures of waverunners. To use the stand up version of the waverunner, you had to be very athletic to be able to stand and maneuver it at the same time. The sit down version made waverunning easy and accessible to everyone. A person would get on, puts one leg on each side of the seat and sit down as though on a motorcycle. The Yamaha Waverunner made it easy to get on and off of the waverunner on open water. Yamaha developed this waverunner so all the engine parts were located inside of the waverunner, if for some reason it capsized it was easily flipped back over. It was manufactured with a small engine and a large gas tank so it could be taken out and driven all day. Over the years the popularity of the Yamaha Waverunner has soared.
